St. John Properties breaks ground on new development near Leander, Georgetown border

Leander Tech Park, a 50-acre mixed-use business development, is coming soon to the border of Leander and Georgetown. St. John Properties broke ground on two flex buildings and two retail buildings. 

Learn more: The two flex buildings, which can be used by a range of tenants, including light manufacturing and distribution companies, are expected to be completed in summer 2026. The retail property will be completed in fall 2026, according to Brett Foelber, assistant vice president of marketing for St. John Properties. 

According to a news release, the development will support 13 buildings with 230,000 square feet of space and approximately 730 jobs. Spaces at the development are currently available for lease negotiations.

Serenada Mental Health now providing care near Georgetown, Round Rock border

Serenada Mental Health opened in October in the Teravista area near the border of Georgetown and Round Rock.

The details: The practice is led by Tabitha Ross, a board-certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner. She specializes in treating adults with depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder and more.

The clinic utilizes a holistic mental health approach, which includes diagnostics, therapy, lifestyle guidance and medication management. Treatments offered include Spravato, a nasal spray that targets treatment-resistant depression, and sublingual ketamine.

Ascension Seton Health Alliance to invest $800M in WilCo hospitals

The Ascension Seton Health Alliance, a network of doctors and hospitals in the Austin metro area, will invest $800 million in its Williamson County facilities through a nonprofit bond.

The breakdown: ASHA has plans to improve some of its existing facilities throughout the state, amounting to more than $1 billion, Jerry Kyle, a partner at public finance firm Orrick Herrington & Sutcliffe, said at a Commissioners Court meeting Oct. 28.

Upgrades to Williamson County facilities include:

  • $480 million for the Ascension Seton Cedar Park Hospital
  • $25 million for the Ascension Seton Wound Care Center in Cedar Park
  • $20 million for the Ascension Seton Emergency Center in Leander
  • $275 million for the Seton Williamson Hospital in Round Rock

What happened: Williamson County commissioners approved the issuance of the bond from the Tarrant County Cultural Education Facilities Finance Corp. at a meeting Oct. 28.

In case you missed it: Ascension Seton Williamson began a $230 million expansion in 2024, which is expected to open in the summer of 2026.

Liberty Hill ISD's tax rate election passes, unofficial voting results show

Liberty Hill ISD’s tax-rate election through Proposition A passed by a narrow margin, unofficial voting results show.

The results: In the Nov. 4 election, 52.34% of voters, or 3,924 people, cast their ballots in favor of Prop A, while 47.66% of voters, or 3,573 people, voted against the measure, according to unofficial results from Williamson County.

On the ballot: LHISD asked voters to approve a M&O tax rate of $0.7389 per $100 valuation, which is about $0.07 higher than the FY 2024-25 M&O tax rate of $0.6669 per $100 valuation.

The interest and sinking, or I&S, tax rate would remain at $0.50 per $100 valuation, making for a combined tax rate of $1.2389 per $100 valuation.

Something to note: The district called a tax rate election in November 2024, during which voters failed to approve a nearly $0.06 tax rate increase.

Zooming out: About 17.3% of registered voters in Williamson County participated in the Nov. 4 election with 78,232 ballots cast, according to county data.
