Frisco Freedom Fest sees venue changes for 2026 celebration

Frisco’s Freedom Fest will see a change in venue this year.

The details: The two-day event kicks off on July 3 at Kaleidoscope Park for Paws and Stripes. On July 4, festivities will be split between Kaleidoscope, Northwest Community Park and Riders Field, which is where fireworks will be displayed, according to the city’s website.

Events this year include:

  • Paws and Stripes at 6-8:30 p.m. July 3 at Kaleidoscope Park
  • Party in the U.S.A 5K at 8 a.m. July 4 at Northwest Community Park
  • Cornhole Tournament at 11 a.m. July 4 at Kaleidoscope Park
  • Freedom Fest Block Party at 4:30-10 p.m. July 4 at Riders Field
  • The FCA Annual Classic Car Show at 6-8:45 p.m. July 4 at Riders Field
  • Fireworks Extravaganza at 10 p.m. (approximately) July 4 at Riders Field

Bread Zeppelin offers salad-stuffed baguettes in Frisco

Bread Zeppelin is now open in Frisco. 

What you need to know: This is the restaurant’s 11th Texas location, according to a news release. The Dallas-born restaurant offers made-to-order salads that are served in a hollowed-out baguette known as a Zeppelin. 

Some of its menu items include buffalo chicken, classic caesar, cobb and southwest salads that all come in the baguette. It also offers salads and other bowls that do not come in the baguette.

Portillo’s launches first-ever airport location in North Texas

The first airport restaurant for Portillo’s opened inside Terminal B at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport in late May.

Travelers can order Portillo’s signature menu items like Chicago-style hot dogs, Italian beef sandwiches, char-grilled burgers and Portillo’s chocolate cake, according to a news release. Plans for the Chicago eatery were first announced last May, according to previous reporting.

The details: The restaurant features self-order kiosks and order-ahead pickup, as well as a Portillo’s Grab & Go area. There is also a variety of seating options for more than 50 guests, according to the restaurant’s website.

Portillo’s partner at the airport is PhaseNext Hospitality, according to previous reporting.

What else? The Chicago-based company has two locations in Fort Worth, as well as restaurants in Arlington, Dallas, Mansfield, Grand Prairie, Grapevine and The Colony, according to its website.
