Houston-based datacenter provider TRG Datacenters broke ground on the second phase of its development in Spring, according to a Nov. 18 news release.

What we know: The $6.6 million project plans to construct a second building providing 110,000 square feet of space and 24 megawatts of capacity for standard, cloud-based and artificial intelligence data needs. TRG Datacenters is currently preleasing for this second building, called HOU2, while the first building, HOU1, has reached capacity.

In their words: “Our strong track record of delivering high-quality infrastructure and customer service has brought us to an inflection point," Chief Executive Officer Christopher Hinkle said. "With HOU1 nearly fully subscribed and HOU2 underway, this expansion gives customers certainty in a supply-constrained market.”

What's next?: The new datacenter is expected to be complete by the fourth quarter of 2026, the news release states.

The rental-home market in the Houston region is showing signs of balance, with  more homes available to lease while overall pricing remains steady, according to the Houston Association of Realtors’ October 2025 Rental Market Update.

What this means: According to the market update, single-family homes for rent in the Greater Houston area surged in availability. In October, 11,749 single-family homes were available for rent—the highest on record.

Leasing activity remained strong in the same month, 3,725 single-family homes were leased— up 9% from the same month a year earlier, the report states. 

Real estate agents added 7,122 new listings to the Multiple Listing Service in October versus 5,935 last year—a 20% year-over-year increase, per the report.

As Thanksgiving week is expected to be one of the busiest U.S. travel periods for Texans, according to projections from AAA, Houston travelers flying on Frontier Airlines from George Bush Intercontinental Airport will have four new nonstop services starting Nov. 20.

Digging deeper: A record 5.8 million Texans are projected to travel within and outside the state from Nov. 25-Dec.1, according to AAA, which is up from approximately 5.7 million travelers in 2024. The airline announcement comes just days after the U.S. Department of Transportation and Federal Aviation Administration lifted a flight reduction emergency order for 40 airports across the country, including IAH, on Nov. 17.
