Allen officials invite community to provide feedback with Trails Master Plan survey

Individuals in Allen have the opportunity to help shape the city's future trail system.

The Allen Trails Master Plan Update survey is available on the city’s website until July 31 for individuals to provide feedback on trail development, according to a June 26 news release.

The specifics: The Allen Parks and Recreation Department is partnering with planning and engineering consulting firm Halff Associates to update the city’s trails master plan, which was last updated in 2019, per the release.

The survey is open to Allen residents as well as visitors to Allen who utilize the city's trail system, the release states.

The survey gives individuals an opportunity to provide feedback on how often they use Allen’s trails, trail conditions, trail connectivity, and priorities for future trails and trail expansions.

Six Flags Over Texas “Tormenta Rampaging Run” to now open July 9

Six Flags Over Texas has announced the new opening date for its first “giga dive coaster as July 9.

The new coaster was originally scheduled to open June 26, but was postponed because commissioning and test taking took longer than expected, per previous reporting.

The details: The Tormenta Rampaging Run reaches 309 feet above ground and has a 285-foot drop, according to the Six Flags website. Riders will be going at 87 miles-per-hour on a ride spanning more than four thousand feet.

Upcoming projects

1. Frisco Street roundabout additions

Project: Four roundabouts will be added along Frisco Street at Technology Drive, Sports Village Road, All Stars Avenue and Research Road. The intersections will be converted from intersections to multilane roundabouts.

Update: The project is in the design phase with bidding for construction expected early next year.

  • Timeline: early 2027-2028
  • Cost: $12 million
  • Funding source: city of Frisco

2. Spring Creek Corridor Intersection Improvements

Project: New turning lanes, concrete pavement, barrier free ramp reconstruction, sidewalk replacement and signal modifications will be added along Spring Creek Parkway at Jupiter Road, Chase Oaks Drive, Ohio Drive, Preston Meadow Road and Parkwood Boulevard.

Update: The design phase is complete, said Clay Lipscomb, Plano community investment project engineering manager. Construction is estimated to start in 2027.

  • Cost: $8 million
