Cayman Airways launches seasonal route at Austin-Bergstrom International Airport

Austin-Bergstrom International Airport officials announced May 24 that its newest airline partner, Cayman Airways, will offer a seasonal nonstop route between Austin and Owen Roberts International Airport in the Cayman Islands through August.

The details: According to officials, the route is Cayman Airways' only nonstop service from Texas. The route will operate on Sundays weekly through Aug. 16 on a Boeing 737-8 aircraft and feature:

  • 160 seats, including a Business Class cabin
  • Free carry-on bag and personal item
  • Complimentary meals and the airline's signature Seven Fathoms Rum Punch
  • Free streaming inflight entertainment
  • Device charging at every seat

Terrible Love Coffee owner to bring neighborhood wine bar to Hyde Park

Brian Knowles, owner of Terrible Love Coffee in Hyde Park, is expanding the Terrible Love brand to include a neighborhood wine bar. 

The outlook: The bar will feature ethically and sustainably sourced wines, light bites and a space for neighbors to meet one another, according to Knowles. 

Looking for a libation? Knowles hopes to open Terrible Love Wine in early August, pouring a combination of classic and natural wines, with options sourced locally and afar. The space will also feature vermouth-based drinks, as well as low-alcohol or non-alcoholic cocktails.

From Yokohama, Japan to Georgetown: Haji Moto serves up authentic ramen

Jerry Thompson found his true calling thousands of miles from Texas—in a bowl of ramen in Japan. He spent about six months in Japan, training under a ramen master, and then brought his newfound passion to Georgetown, opening a restaurant dedicated to authentic, handcrafted ramen.

Haji Moto’s ramen, made in the style found in Yokohama, Japan, uses a lighter pork broth. The restaurant also specializes in tonkotsu and offers chicken ramen.

Cocktails highlight Japanese spirits, seasonal ingredients and house-made infusions.

The Driskill Grill and Bar steakhouse reopens in Austin’s historic hotel

The Driskill Grill initially opened in 1930, and after nearly a century of service, MML Hospitality has relaunched the historic spot as an American steakhouse.

The bar menu features appetizers like steak tartare, oysters and shrimp cocktail, while the full dining menu highlights fresh Gulf seafood, dry-aged steaks, house-made salads and creative sides. The cocktail list spans the alphabet, from rye-based old fashioneds to aged rum variations.
