The family-owned Japanese restaurant provides an all-you-can-eat dining experiencing, featuring more than 40 signature sushi rolls and fresh-cut sashimi. Handcrafted cocktails as well as hot and cold sakes are available.

Finney’s Books
The romance-only bookstore is a queer woman-owned business that celebrates all kinds of love stories and champions inclusivity, offering monthly book clubs.

Ongoing: I-35 Capital Express Central project: I-35 frontage road closure near Riverside Drive

Project:
Reconfiguration and reconstruction of the northbound I-35 frontage Road near Riverside Drive as part of broader I-35 improvements.

Update: A long-term closure of the northbound frontage road is scheduled to begin as crews shift traffic patterns to allow for reconstruction work. Detours will be in place, and access to nearby businesses are expected to be maintained, according to reporting from Community Impact.

Timeline: Closure expected to begin in early 2026; duration dependent on construction phases.

Cost: $4.5 billion (entire project)

I-35 Drainage Tunnel and Pump Station

Project: Construction of a drainage tunnel and pump station under I-35 is underway in order to improve stormwater management and reduce flooding impacts along the corridor through Central Austin, according to TxDOT.

Update: Work on the drainage tunnel and pump station is underway.

Timeline: 2025-29

Cost: $4.5 billion (entire project)

Expansion could bring Desnudo, Rockman, austiNuts and more to Austin airport

As the expansion of Austin-Bergstrom International Airport continues, the city is looking to bring both local and national retailers to new terminal areas.

The details: The multiyear expansion, Journey with AUS, will add taxiways, a concourse, a parking garage and other improvements. Also included is the extension of the existing Barbara Jordan Terminal's west side and a smaller temporary terminal, Concourse M.

This month, city officials are slated to approve a new concession lease agreement that will bring new retail, food and beverage options to the West Gate Expansion area and Concourse M as the airport development program moves along. The deal could see travelers get access to products from local businesses such as Densudo Coffee, Rockman and autiNuts as well as national retailers Starbucks and Amazon.

From a retail project to a new gas station and more, here are five of the most expensive projects filed with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation in the Austin metro this week.

1. Shops at Park Place in Elgin: Hunington Properties will build two retail building shells totaling 20,059 square feet.

2. Star Mart in Leander: Austin-based Star Mart will build a 5,800-square-foot gas station in Leander.

3. Plaza at Hero Way shell building in Leander: A 10,250-square-foot retail project is planned along the ever-growing Hero Way corridor.

4. Willows at Leander Memory Care in Leander: Willows at Leander will add a 16-bed memory care building totaling approximately 10,000 square feet.

5. Silver Creek Expansion in Austin: ZMT Crystal, a limited liability company, will construct a roughly 4,556-square-foot office building.
