Plano City Council approved maintenance repairs and repainting for three slide stairway towers at Oak Point and Carpenter Park recreation centers at a meeting April 27.
The gist: One indoor waterslide stairway tower at Oak Point Recreation Center and two slide stairway towers at Carpenter Park Recreation Center have visible paint deterioration, surface corrosion and structural degradation, according to city documents.
The roughly nine-year-old structures were recommended for preventative maintenance during a routine inspection last year.
Carpenter Park Recreation Center’s waterslides will be closed from May 6-12 and its pool will be closed from May 6-10. Oak Point Recreation Center’s waterslide will be closed from May 1-22 and its pool will be closed from May 13-17, according to the city’s parks and recreation department.
