The shared-workspace salon, bex+Co., will open a new location near the Liberty Hill and Georgetown border this spring, according to a news release from the company. The new salon will be the company’s first franchise location, led by Raven Eilers.

What they offer: Each location has individual stylists with different offerings and specialties. The salon’s model empowers stylists to be independent business owners in the shared space, according to the news release.

Some of the stylists' offerings at the Cedar Park location include balayage, grey blending, highlights and color corrections.

Learn more: Rebekah Irvine founded the bex+Co. concept in 2015 to challenge the standard salon model, the news release states. The salon now has seven locations in the Austin area, including spots in Cedar Park and Georgetown.

Faubion Elementary students will be rezoned to either Westside Elementary or Reed Elementary in the 2026-27 school year, following the closure of Faubion at the end of the current school year. The board of trustees approved the rezoning plan during its Feb. 5 board meeting.

The details: Administration presented the board with two attendance rezoning options. Under the approved scenario "B," students currently zoned to Cedar Park Middle School will attend Westside Elementary, and students currently zoned to Henry Middle School will attend Reed Elementary. This option prioritizes feeder patterns and alignment between elementary and middle school attendance boundaries.

Something to note: Current Faubion students will receive priority for intra-district transfers. The fee will be waived, and the transfer window will remain open until May 29.

How we got here: The board voted Dec. 17 to close and repurpose Faubion in 2026-27 due to the campus' projected low enrollment and LISD's projected multimillion-dollar budget shortfall.

Delightful Development purchased the Williamson County historic jail site Feb. 10, following approval from county commissioners.

The details: Delightful Development co-founder Craig Cavallier told county commissioners the team doesn’t have a specific plan for the site yet but expects to incorporate a restaurant and hotel in a mixed-use development. The design will include the historic jail building, Cavallier said.

The developer will work with the city of Georgetown to develop the site following the sale, County Judge Steve Snell said.

Some context: In November 2024, Williamson County began deconstructing the nonhistoric additions near the jail site at 102 W. Third St., and stripping the jail interior in order to repurpose the site and sell it.

Georgetown City Council approved a rezoning request from the county Jan. 27, allowing for the following uses:

• Restaurants
• Single-family residential
• Parking lots
• Personal services
• Banking or financial services
