2. Permit approved for indoor pickleball court within Bee Cave development
A new indoor pickleball court could be on its way to the Bella Colinas neighborhood area following approval of a specific use permit at an Oct. 28 City Council meeting.

3. Plans move forward for new 6-story condo development at Hurst Harbor
A new six-story development known as The Creek at Hurst Harbor, which features 146 condo units, restaurant and retail space, may be coming soon to Lakeway.

Kim Ortiz Portrait Art relocates within Hill Country Galleria

Kim Ortiz Portrait Art found a new home within the Hill Country Galleria this fall. 

The details: Previously at 12700 Hill Country Blvd., Ste. S-120, the portrait studio is now located next to the Cinemark movie theater and Tadashi. The business owned by Kim Ortiz provides wall portraits of families and dogs, and is celebrating its sixth year in the Galleria this January. 

What else?: A ribbon-cutting with the Bee Cave Chamber of Commerce was held Oct. 29 for the new studio.

Meanwhile Brewing to celebrate five years of brews in South Austin with three-day event

South Austin brewery Meanwhile Brewing Co. will celebrate its fifth anniversary with three days of festivities from Nov. 7-9.

The brewery will release special beers, offer food deals, and host live music, family-friendly activities and local vendors.

The setup: On Nov. 7, Meanwhile Brewing will kick off the weekend event by offering a “Tribute to Austin and Texas,” featuring:

  • A neighborhood party from 1-5 p.m.
  • Discounted drinks and food specials for guests with proof of living or working in the 78744 zip code
  • Live music from 7-10 p.m.

The brewery will celebrate community Nov. 8 with the following events:
  • Volleyball tournament beginning at 9:30 a.m
  • Vendor market featuring over 15 Austin artists from noon-5 p.m
  • Flash tattoo session from 2-7 p.m.
  • Live entertainment from 6-11 p.m.

To end the celebration Nov. 9, Meanwhile Brewing will encourage its guests to relax and connect through:
  • Volleyball open play from 9 a.m.-noon
  • Donation-based outdoor yoga class at 10 a.m.
  • A farmers market featuring local vendors from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
  • DJ sets and live music from noon-6 p.m.
