10 Katy and Fulshear area housing developments updates

Katy and Fulshear are seeing a growth in housing options with several single-family housing developments, build-to-rent communities and multifamily apartment options underway or beginning soon. This list is not comprehensive and includes the most up-to-date information received as of press time.

Katy Boardwalk Reserve: The Katy Boardwalk district will see 186 single-family homes instead of brownstones, villas and patio homes following a Nov. 10 vote by Katy City Council.

  • Construction was slated to begin in February 2026

The Landing at Katy Pointe: The 17.2-acre build-to-rent development will feature 210 duplexes averaging 1,500 square feet with two- and three-bedroom options featuring attached garages.
  • Completion expected third quarter of 2026
  • Corner of Clay Road and Katy Pointe Boulevard

NewQuest development: The unnamed 18.5-acre retail and residential project will be constructed on one of the few remaining tracts along Morton Road. The site will also feature a modern farmhouse-style residential complex with 334 units.
  • Completion expected in 2028
  • Southwest corner of Morton and Porter roads

iSmash to open 1st Texas location in Katy

iSmash, an entertainment brand known for its rage rooms, is set to open its first Texas location in Katy with a grand opening May 23, Katy franchise owner Mitesh Patel said.

What they offer: Founded in 2018 in New York, the business offers a hands-on environment where guests can safely smash objects such as glassware, dishes and electronics with tools such as crowbars, baseball bats, golf clubs and sledgehammers in a controlled space, according to its website.

There are two options for where to smash objects, including a rage room or smash alley, where individuals can throw items down a dedicated alley.

Other offerings include:

  • Splatter paint
  • Axe throwing

Bountiful Boards Charcuterie opens brick and mortar in Cypress

After three years of virtually operating her own business, Jody Lane, owner of Bountiful Boards Charcuterie, opened a brick and mortar in Cypress in May. The business specializes in creating charcuterie boards and grazing tables. Aside from its charcuterie boards, the business hosts workshops that are expanding into unique experience-based classes that combine food, creativity and community, Lane said.

Truluck’s marks decade serving prime seafood in The Woodlands

A decade after planting roots in The Woodlands and weathering everything from devastating floods to the upheaval of COVID-19, Houston-born seafood destination Truluck's Ocean's Best Seafood & Crab is charting its next chapter. The restaurant was recently renovated in The Woodlands, and a new location is planned to open this year in Town and Country, operating partner Chris Davis said.
