League City Police Department to apply for up to $4M in grants

The League City Police Department will apply for several grants to fund law enforcement operations following approval to apply by League City City Council at its Jan. 27 meeting. 

The details: If the maximum amount requested is granted, it could add up to nearly $4 million in funding, documents show.

One more thing: During the meeting’s public comment portion, League City resident Kenneth Attocknie said he opposed the city pursuing the grant with Operation Lone Star and said he felt the city did not give the decision to partner with other agencies on immigration enforcement as much time for deliberation as other items, such as transportation projects.

Mindful Health to open new location in League City in 2027

Texas-based mental health provider Mindful Health plans to open a new location in League City in 2027, according to the company’s website.

The details: The League City location will offer both in-person and virtual care, including psychiatry, therapy, holistic care, yoga, partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs.

The county clerk also serves as the chief election official for Harris County.

  • What do you feel are the major challenges facing the office currently?
  • How will you address these challenges?
  • How will you work to make the office more user-friendly to residents?

Candidates were informed of this policy.
