Argyle ISD will remain closed on Friday, Jan. 30, due to unsafe road conditions caused by winter weather, according to the district’s website.

The details: All after-school activities have been cancelled across the district, as well.

The website states that many residential neighborhood roads, walkways and parking lots are still unsafe for buses and pedestrians.

The district has been closed since Monday, Jan. 26, due to weather from Winter Storm Fern, which brought below-freezing temperatures across Dallas-Fort Worth.

Denton ISD schools to remain closed Jan. 30

Denton ISD officials announced Thursday, Jan. 29, that schools and district facilities will stay closed for Friday, Jan. 30.

The details: In a statement, Denton ISD officials said that assessments showed conditions remained unsafe in many areas across the district.

"Many residential streets and secondary routes traveled by our students are still hazardous and could pose risks for school buses and for families driving to campuses," officials said in the statement. "In addition, despite the diligent efforts of our Operations team, some school parking lots and surrounding access roads have not fully thawed."

Some extracurricular activities will still occur, according to the statement. Denton ISD stated in its communications that coaches, activity directors and sponsors will communicate directly with students and families regarding schedule changes.
