San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo breaks down benefits of expansion during town hall

During a Sept. 16 town hall meeting, representatives from the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo explained how voting for propositions A and B would allow the organization to build a permanent home on the county’s east side properties.

The breakdown: Cody Davenport, executive director and CEO of the San Antonio Stock Show & Rodeo, gave a presentation, which discussed how the rodeo expansion would reinvent the county’s east side property and venues. In the presentation, Davenport said the propositions would affect the future of the rodeo for years to come.

He said approving both propositions would allow the rodeo to cultivate a new kind of relationship with the Western industry and give the east side grounds an identity.

Looking ahead: Early voting for the Nov. 4 general election is from Oct. 20-31. If both votes pass, the rodeo will begin planning and designing immediately.

New Zealand-based dance company adds new studio in San Antonio

A new international dance studio has expanded into the United States, adding its first location in the San Antonio area.

A closer look: En Beat Dance Academy opened a new studio for classes and community events on Aug. 16, Co-owner and Media Director Adolfo Mora told Community Impact.

The academy originated in Auckland, New Zealand, where it’s still home to the business’s original location.

The framework: En Beat Dance is fronted by lead instructor and Professional Dancer Angel Lopez, Mora said.

The team leads two different programs—one for competitive dancers and another “streets” style program.

“There’s a duality in the programs we offer,” Mora said.

If students are looking to strengthen their skills for high school dance teams or competitions, Mora said that competitive classes for fundamentals are the route to go.

For those interested in learning more eclectic styles of dance, the “streets” program is another option, Mora said.
