Richardson residents can expect a change to the city’s trash collection and city facility schedules for Thanksgiving, according to a news release from the city.

The specifics: There will be no trash, recycling or brush and bulky item pickup (BABIC) on Nov. 27 or 28.

There will be no makeup days for trash collection or BABIC, and regularly scheduled pickup will resume Dec. 1. Recycling pickup scheduled for Nov. 27 and Nov. 28 will now take place Nov. 26 and Nov. 29, respectively.

Bora Bora Smoothie Cafe launched Oct. 17 in Richardson, a company representative said.

Upcoming projects: Southwest Plano residential street repairs

• Project: Plano is working to repair neighborhood infrastructure, including residential concrete streets, alleys, sidewalks and ramps.
• Update: Plano City Council approved a $3.31 million contract at an Oct. 27 meeting for repairs in the area bounded by Decator Drive, Park Boulevard, Tulane Drive and Preston Ridge Trail.

• Project: The North Texas Municipal Water District is currently working to replace an aging pipeline along Custer Road.
• Update: More than a third of the 9,100-foot pipeline has been installed, according to a city news release. Work will close Pitman Drive from 15th Street to Shadow Trail until Jan. 5, and cause lane closures on northbound Custer Road between Grandview Drive and Westridge Drive from Dec. 8-12.

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport is expecting more than 3 million passengers to pass through the airport during the Thanksgiving holiday travel period.

What you need to know: In a news release, the airport stated the busiest day will be Nov. 30, with an estimated 269,000 travelers. Between Nov. 20 and Dec. 2, the airport will have heavy traffic throughout the travel period. Airport officials anticipate large crowds of departing and arriving customers on Nov. 26, Nov. 29 and Dec. 1, as well.

Zooming in: The news release stated public transit could help speed up the drop-offs and pick-ups. 

Trinity Metro’s TEXRail travels from downtown Fort Worth to Terminal B at the airport. DART’s Orange Line runs from Plano, Dallas and Irving and arrives in Terminal A. DART’s Silver Line, which launched Oct. 25, will provide a riding option from Richardson, Addison, Carrollton and Coppell to Terminal B.
