The Texas A&M University Board of Regents adopted a five-year plan, with student success as a key goal, after a year-long approval process during its third-quarter 2026 meeting on Sept. 3.
What you need to know: According to a news release, the 2026-2031 A&M System Strategic Plan has four drivers for the university, with student success listed as the highest objective.
Zooming in: The plan is officially measured by student success, research and innovation, community advancement and mission enablement.
The plan’s effectiveness will also be measured by 36 indicators of performance, including in part: Graduation rate Commercialization with brand initiatives, such as the recent collaboration between the university and Buc-ee’s Savings produced through shared services
The takeaway: Texas A&M University Chancellor Glenn Hegar said with the high growth of the state of Texas and an ever-evolving workforce, the university needs to “pull together” to create the next generation's workforce.
