A new dining concept in the Cedar Park-North Austin area, Precious Chinese BBQ, is bringing a taste of southern Chinese culinary traditions to the local restaurant scene.

The details: A fast-casual Cantonese restaurant, the concept features a signature specialty known as siu mei, or Hong Kong barbecue. Meats such as duck pork are seasoned with spices and “meticulously” roasted, according to the company’s website.

The restaurant also serves traditional Chaoshan braised specialties, including braised duck and pork trotters, prepared using a signature braising technique in which meats are glazed and slow-simmered in an aromatic brine made with brown sugar, salt, soybean paste and more than a dozen spices, such as galangal and star anise, resulting in tender, flavorful dishes.

Truluck's Ocean's Finest Seafood and Crab opened in The Arboretum over 20 years ago, bringing fresh seafood and fine dining experiences to Northwest Austin neighbors. 

On the menu: Truluck's is known for its Florida Stone Crab, which is harvested sustainably and delivered from trap to table within 24 hours, according to the restaurant’s website, which ensures freshness and flavor. For those craving surf and turf, Truluk’s offers filet mignon, New York strip, steak frites and roasted lamb rack. Sides include asparagus, brie mac and cheese, truffle fries and crab fried rice. 

What’s special about it? Each team member at Truluck’s is hospitality driven, Myriam Chiny, general manager of the Arboretum location said. The team hopes to craft a memorable experience for every guest, making them feel welcome. The staff focuses on building relationships with guests, she explained, tailoring the experience to their preferences and allergies. 

One more thing: Guests at The Arboretum location can find live music at the restaurant, seven days a week, Nunez said.

Austin seeks public feedback on Cesar Chavez Street renaming: The city is seeking public feedback on the potential renaming of Cesar Chavez Street following some City Council members' request for the change earlier this year. The city is asking residents whether the street should be renamed, and if so, what designation to use as a replacement. Council will take that input before making any final decisions.
