Driving growth in The Village

The Village in Colleyville, a mixed-use commercial and residential development, has seen an influx of businesses opening in 2025.

The details: The Village had lower occupancy rates than other commercial centers in the city, prompting city officials to action, Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Scotty Richardson said.

The occupancy rate for retail and restaurants in The Village jumped from 63% in January 2025 to 88.3% in January 2026, said Chelsea Rose, Colleyville’s economic development director.

“The foundation is there—beautiful public spaces, residential living and commercial opportunity all in one walkable environment,” council member Mark Alphonso said. “What will take it to the next level is continued growth in restaurants and retail, and we’re already starting to see that momentum build.”

Art Algebra now serves lattes alongside curated art collection

Art Algebra is now open in Colleyville, offering a coffee and matcha menu alongside select handmade art.

The overview: Co-owners Aatif Merchant and Aashna Bharwani curated art pieces from around the world to make art accessible to everyone.

"Our goal is to bring something that doesn’t currently exist to the area," they said. "At present, there are very few galleries or studios in DFW that source handmade art and objects from around the world and very few spaces that regularly introduce handmade, artist-driven work in an approachable, everyday setting. Art Algebra is designed to fill that gap by offering exposure to unique art styles, craftsmanship, and cultural expression that are often only found in larger cities or museums."

In addition to the art collection, Art Algebra will serve a small monthly rotating coffee menu. During its soft opening, the menu includes the Honey Bee Latte, the Coco Cloud Matcha, the Berries & Cream Latte, the Matchai Latte and the Maplenut Latte, according to a post from the business.
