1. McKinney Repertory Theatre presents 'Seussical Jr.': The McKinney Repertory Theatre’s Youth Pilot Program will present performances of “Seussical Jr," featuring a variety of Dr. Seuss characters such as Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and the citizens of Whoville.

Tayta Peruvian Restaurant now open in Richardson

Tayta is a family business serving authentic Peruvian food, owner Diego Florez said in an email. Menu highlights include ceviche, made according to a recipe Florez learned while traveling the Peruvian coast, and pollo a la brasa, roasted chicken cooked in an oven Florez said he brought to the restaurant from Peru.

“We designed everything so that every customer takes a little piece of Peru with them,” Florez said.

The Salven Kitchen serves Nepali flavors in Roanoke

The 206, a brewery and food hall in Roanoke, is now home to a Nepali sekuwa barbecue restaurant called The Salven Kitchen.

The restaurant offers charcoal- and wood-smoked meats and has craft beer on tap.

Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine announces Harry Potter ice! theme

Harry Potter has been confirmed as the theme for the 2026 ice! experience at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine.

The display will feature 10 different scenes inspired by the wizarding world and will use 2 million pounds of ice to create the sculptures and scenes within the resort, according to the website. Each theme also features two-story ice slides and passageways throughout the experience.

The details: This year’s ice! runs from Nov. 13-Jan. 3, 2027, according to a news release. Tickets for the event are available starting at $33.32.

The experience, which is inspired by the Harbin Ice Festival in China, uses more than 300 Harbin-based artisans to create the sculptures, the news release states. The artisans spend about 40 days hand carving 60,000 ice blocks.

On-site, the experience is kept at 9 degrees Fahrenheit to preserve the ice sculptures.
