Clear Creek ISD board of trustees candidates file for May election

Clear Creek ISD will hold a general election May 2, with board of trustees Positions 2 and 3 on the ballot for three-year terms.

The details: Both incumbents and one challenger have filed for the election ahead of the Feb. 13 filing deadline, according to district documents. An asterisk indicates incumbent:

Position 2:

  • Jamieson Mackay*

Position 3:
  • Arturo Sanchez*
  • Gabriel F. Gonzales

The deadline for candidates to file is 5 p.m. Feb. 13.

Two Republican candidates are running for Galveston County judge in the upcoming March primaries. 

The overview: Mark Henry and Chris Kinard are both seeking the Republican nomination for Galveston County judge, and the winning candidate will appear on the midterm election ballot in November. County judges serve four-year terms with no term limits.

Two Democratic candidates are running for Texas Senate District 11 in the upcoming March primaries.

The overview: Shannon Dicely and Cameron A. Rollwitz will compete for the Democratic nomination.

The winning Democratic candidate will face the sole Republican candidate, Dennis Paul, and the winner of that election will begin serving District 11 in January 2027.

Rodeo Houston to hold January job fair for part-time event staff

Recruiters from the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo will host a job fair Jan. 24 to hire for a variety of seasonal roles for the upcoming 2026 rodeo.

The overview: Rodeo staff as well as representatives from ASM Global, Amarak and Safe Management are hiring for part-time positions, including concessions, cashiers, bartenders, waitstaff, event staff and security, per a Jan. 13 news release.

What you need to know: Candidates must be 18 years or older to participate in the Jan. 24 job fair, which will run from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at NRG Stadium, according to the release. Interested applicants are encouraged to review available positions and apply online before attending the fair.

Additionally, American Medical Response is hiring paramedics and emergency personnel to work the rodeo events, and the rodeo's carnival partner, RCS, is recruiting game and carnival ride attendants, per the release.
