First Street construction wraps up, next steps underway

First Street from Stuber Elementary School to Dallas Parkway has wrapped up construction, according to Prosper town officials. 

The details: Town Project Manager Joshua Cotton said construction work for the project is complete, with final documentation details remaining. Construction on the $30.89 million project started in spring 2023 and was completed in December 2025, according to the town's capital improvement project website.

What’s next?: A separate project to install a permanent traffic signal at First Street and Legacy Drive is underway, with signal materials expected to arrive by March, Cotton said.

Yellow Door Storage to build new Celina facility

A new storage unit facility is set to open in Celina.

The gist: About eight acres along FM 455 was sold to Yellow Door Storage this past summer, according to a social media post from Axis Realty Group, the real estate agency who brokered the sale. The storage facility is set to begin construction this spring with an estimated March 2027 completion date, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation listing.

What they offer: Yellow Door Storage offers drive-up storage units and climate-controlled units.

Dallas-based M Crowd Restaurant Group acquires Razzoo's Cajun Cafe locations across Texas

Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe has been acquired by a Dallas-based restaurant group less than three months after company officials filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. M Crowd Restaurant Group, which is the parent company of Mi Cocina and Vaqueros among other eateries, announced the acquisition of the restaurant brand Dec. 30.

“Razzoo’s has been part of the dining landscape for more than 30 years, and we believe deeply in its roots and potential,” M Crowd Restaurant Group CEO Edgar Guevara said in a news release.

The specifics: Razzoo’s was founded in Dallas in 1991 and has grown to a portfolio of 20 locations in two states. The restaurant’s menu features a variety of Louisiana-inspired Cajun and seafood dishes including fried catfish, etouffee dishes, crawfish, gumbo and more, according to its website.

Diving in deeper: While the business’s website previously listed 20 locations of Razzoo’s Cajun Cafe, the acquisition announcement noted that 11 locations will remain open. The locations remaining open include one in Concord, North Carolina, as well as 10 in Texas.

Charter school system launches online high school courses for students statewide

Texas charter system Harmony Public Schools launched a new virtual learning platform on Jan. 5 that allows students across the state to take high school courses online.

The overview: The Harmony Online Learning program includes dozens of courses aligned with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills standards, all of which are self-paced, according to a news release.

More details: Students can choose from dozens of courses in core subjects, electives, Advanced Placement and Career and Technical Education, according to the program’s website. The offerings aim to help students complete credit recovery, get ahead with their requirements and access courses not available at their home campus. Credit earned through Harmony may be applied toward high school graduation requirements depending on local district policies, per the release.

One more thing: Interested families can enroll online, and spring courses begin Jan. 12, per the release. The cost of tuition per course is $325, a spokesperson from Harmony Public Schools told Community Impact.
