Parker’s Corner Market site leased to Wish Kitchen + Bar owner ahead of redevelopment

Ahead of the city’s downtown revitalization efforts, the city of Liberty Hill announced short-term plans for 1017 Main St., the site of the now-closed Parker’s Corner Market.

The details: While the city still owns the building, Mike Farr—owner of Liberty Hill concept Wish Kitchen + Bar—will lease the space as "Parker's Mercantile." Under this management, the location will host "live music, shopping, food and opportunities for entrepreneurs to test ideas," according to a news release from the city.

While the city expects the space to open on weekends later this summer, the site has “several years” remaining before redevelopment. During a Liberty Hill Chamber of Commerce luncheon May 27, Deputy City Manager Brandon Pritchett said the city plans for "a short-term activation" of the space to host smaller vendors as the city develops "a longer-term plan."

The context: The move falls under the city’s efforts to address community demands for a more active downtown. The city purchased the property for $1.6 million Jan. 8.

Liberty Hill annexes property on Hwy. 29 to become commercial development

Liberty Hill will annex a 21-acre tract of land along Hwy. 29 near Butler Farms Boulevard and rezone it for commercial use following a vote at the May 27 City Council meeting.

The details: The tract of land is referred to in city documents as Sutton Natalie Commercial. According to city staff, property annexed into the city of Liberty Hill defaults to agricultural zoning, but City Council approved an immediate rezoning to what Director of Planning and Development Robyn Claridy-Miga called the city's "most intense commercial zoning district."

The tract is part of a 90-acre property development intended for both retail and residential, according to an associate with Pohl Partners Inc., the real estate broker for the property. Claridy-Miga said the majority of the rest of the property will be residential, with the possibility of small neighborhood retail.
