Sugar Land supports DeliverIt Group's new pharmaceutical facility

Sugar Land officials approved a $1.3 million performance-based incentive to support the expansion of DeliverIt Group, a Sugar Land-based specialty pharmacy and healthcare provider.

The family-owned company, which has been in Sugar Land since 2010, provides specialty pharmacy, infusion therapy and advanced clinical care services, officials said in a July 8 news release.

What you need to know: The DeliverIt Group plans to invest nearly $11.9 million to develop a 60,000-square-foot FDA-registered, cGMP-compliant 503B outsourcing facility in Sugar Land Business Park to expand the company’s capabilities into advanced pharmaceutical manufacturing, per the release. The new project is expected to create 55 new jobs.

The incentive, which is funded through the Sugar Land Development Corp. 4A sales tax program, will be distributed over a 10-year period and is tied to performance milestones related to job creation and capital investment.

What they're saying: "The addition of a pharmaceutical manufacturing operation of this caliber reflects the type of targeted growth we want to see in Sugar Land," said Jennifer Alexander, business development manager for the city.

Warby Parker glasses store to open in First Colony Mall

Warby Parker is set to open its 24th Texas location in Sugar Land’s First Colony Mall, officials shared in a July 7 news release.

What they offer: The brand offers a variety of glasses, including sunglasses and kids’ frames, as well as contacts and accessories, according to the release. The store also offers eye exams.

Also of note: The Sugar Land location will feature art by Fort Worth illustrator Tatyana Alanis, per the release.

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo names new COO and general manager

Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo officials announced the creation of a new C-level leadership position called chief operating officer and general manager.

In a nutshell: The new position—which will be filled by current Chief Revenue Officer Amber Burda—aims to unify strategic direction as well as align programming and strategy for the annual rodeo event, officials announced in a July 7 news release.

Burda has served as chief revenue officer since 2023, although she was initially hired in 2017 as the executive director of sponsorships, business and corporate development, where she led the creation of official rodeo sponsorships.

Sorting out details: Her focus will be on ensuring cross-departmental coordination to enhance operational efficiency, while aligning pricing and revenue strategies with the organization’s mission.

In the new role, Burda will oversee most public-facing aspects of the rodeo, including:

  • Mission

  • Show operations

  • Ticketing

  • Sponsorships

  • Stadium presentation

  • The carnival

Burda will also be involved in the creation of the organization’s new agricultural complex along Hwy. 288, per the release.
