Frisco adds $378K to planned Iron Horse Trail design

The city of Frisco is adding $378,119 to its engineering contract for the planned Iron Horse Hike and Bike Trail to address environmental requirements and potential changes to the route.

The details: Frisco’s existing Iron Horse Hike and Bike Trail is an unpaved nature trail featuring 3.1 miles of natural trails across 38.6 acres of restored Blackland Prairie. Through an amendment to an existing agreement with Freese & Nichols, Frisco will pay an additional $378,119 for design work on the trail, which is set to be extended to 3.5 miles.

The work includes redesigning portions of the trail as needed to avoid remediation areas associated with the former Exide property, along with revised surveys and additional environmental compliance work.
