Katy ISD adopts fall break for future instructional calendars

Katy ISD board of trustees approved an amendment to add a fall break to future instructional calendars, including an amendment to the 2026-27 calendar, at its Jan. 20 meeting.

The board also approved the 2027-28 instructional calendar, which sets Aug. 11, 2027, as the first day of school and includes a fall break in October.

What’s new: The addition of a fall break stems from community feedback that showed strong support for the change, according to district documents.
