Plano ISD’s new Career and Technical Education Center is on track to open this school year.

The big picture: The center was approved as part of PISD’s 2022 bond and is expected to welcome students on Oct. 19, following the district’s spring break, PISD CTE Director Karen Buechman said.

The CTE center, located at the corner of Alma Drive and Park Boulevard currently has 1,040 students enrolled, but Principal Jean Laswell said they anticipate 1,200 students in the fall.
 

Jason’s Deli on Coit Road in Richardson is now closed, according to a social media announcement from the restaurant. The restaurant closed on July 31.

The details: Jason’s Deli serves sandwiches, salads, pasta and baked potatoes.

“Thank you to our loyal customers, our team and this amazing community for all the memories,” the restaurant posted.

Collin College’s proposed bond package could fund several expansion projects, including two new campuses.

Collin County voters will be able to decide on the school's $600 million bond package in November after Collin College's Board of Trustees called a bond election during its Aug. 7 meeting.

What you need to know: Approval of the bond package would authorize $600 million in funding for expansion projects that include two new campuses in Anna and Royse City, along with a new Aviation Academy in McKinney.

Quote of note: “The Board of Trustees has always believed in planning for the future while honoring the commitments we’ve made to our community,” board Chair Jay Saad said in a news release.
