Carroll ISD creates program to partner with universities for automatic acceptance opportunities

Carroll ISD launched the Distinguished High School Partnership Program for the 2025-26 school year, which is designed to help CISD graduates earn automatic admittance into colleges or universities if they meet certain criteria.

The overview: The district currently partners with Texas Tech University, Tarleton State University, Howard Payne University and McMurry University, said Gina Peddy, executive director of curriculum and instruction.

“We're looking at our kids that work really hard, they make really good grades, but due to extenuating circumstances [or] test anxiety, they are worried about college admissions,” Peddy said. “Just knowing [they] ... will automatically be accepted into [a] college takes some of the stress and the pressure off.”

Kiddie Academy starts construction in Colleyville

Construction on the Kiddie Academy in Colleyville started and should be complete in January, owner Sal Alvi said.

The details: Kiddie Academy will have a 10,500 square-foot facility with a covered outdoor play area, Community Impact previously reported.

It will include eight total classrooms that will support kids age six weeks to five years old, Alvi said.

“Our curriculum integrates STEM-based learning with social-emotional growth, creativity and character education,” Alvi said. “We’ll also offer enrichment opportunities, family engagement events and programs that prepare children for a successful transition into kindergarten.”
