New developments, road projects redefining the heart of Cypress-Fairbanks

As the Harris County Precinct 3 Commissioner’s Office prepares to undertake $129.7 million in road projects across the Cypress-Fairbanks area, new developments are seeking to redefine where the center of the area sits.

The big picture: Three roadways being addressed over the next five years in the Cypress-Fairbanks area include North Eldridge Parkway, Grant Road and Telge Road. However, Precinct 3 Director of Engineering Eric Heppen said the commissioner’s office is also looking to address growing traffic pains along Fry and Mound roads.

New housing data from the Kinder Institute is also showing a shift as homeowners move to areas in north and south Cypress as areas such as Towne Lake welcome an influx of new businesses.

Quote of note: “I think that’s what’s hard about Cypress is you really can’t nail down where a center would be because there’s all these pockets of activity,” Cy-Fair Chamber of Commerce President Leslie Martone said.
