3 health care facility updates from hospitals in and around Allen

Hospital systems in and around the Allen area have seen various updates, including nationwide recognitions and expansion initiatives.

The specifics: Check out updates from three local hospitals. 

1. Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Allen: Texas Health’s Allen hospital reached 25 years of operation Dec. 30, a hospital spokesperson said. The hospital offers a variety of services including emergency care, cardiovascular care, family planning, orthopedics, rehabilitation and more, according to its website.

2. Medical City McKinney
The 311-bed hospital earned a 2026 Magnet with Distinction designation for nursing excellence, a May 28 news release states. Medical City McKinney offers cardiovascular and neurological services, general and robotic surgery, orthopedics, women’s services, a neonatal intensive care unit, a Level II Trauma Center and more.

3. Baylor Scott & White Medical Center—Centennial
The hospital recently opened a labor and delivery triage unit that provides specialized care for expectant mothers needing urgent treatment, a Baylor representative said. Baylor Scott & White Centennial is also Frisco’s first Level III maternal-care facility, which is the second-highest level a hospital can obtain.

Koelker Dental to begin offering services this summer in Allen

Koelker Dental is coming soon to Allen, Office Manager Ashley Koelker said.

A closer look: Kris Koelker will offer dental services and is known for helping patients with dental anxiety through IV conscious sedation, the practice’s website states.

Legacy Drive expansion, Custer Parkway reconstruction: 5 Dallas-Fort Worth transportation updates

Check out five upcoming and ongoing road projects in Dallas-Fort Worth.

1. Legacy Drive widening
Project: The project will build two lanes of Legacy Drive from Prosper Trail to a future Prosper ISD middle school, widen the roadway to four lanes near the school and construct a water line.
Update: Prosper Town Council approved a $6.1 million construction contract for the project at a May 19 meeting, and construction is expected to begin later this summer.

2. McKinney concrete panel replacement
Project: McKinney’s Roadstock project will replace damaged concrete panels and restripe Eldorado Parkway and Virginia Parkway.
Update: McKinney City Council approved an additional $1.2 million for the project at a May 5 meeting, and concrete panel replacement has started along Virginia Parkway.
