Houston teahouse Ting Tea is now serving fresh brewed milk teas, boba drinks and desserts in Cy-Fair, according to the business' social media.

The details: This is the shop's second store in Greater Houston, located at 7073 Hwy. 6 N, Houston, with another in Conroe.

The shop offers a variety of hot and iced teas, as well as smoothies, snacks and desserts, according to its website. Popular drinks include matcha brown sugar milk tea, fresh white peach oolong and jasmine lemon iced tea.

Korean food concept Cupbop coming to Cy-Fair

Korean specialty bowl company Cupbop announced it would be opening a new location in the Cy-Fair area in an Oct. 24 news release.

The details: Founded in 2013 as a mobile food truck, Cupbop owner Junghun Song aims to provide an accessible way for individuals to get a taste of Korean food and culture. Cupbop provides cup-style bowls of Korean food with rice, vegetables and a customer's choice of protein such as beef, chicken and tofu.

Quote of note: “Houston is one of the fastest growing and most diverse food cities in the U.S., and we’re excited to bring a fresh take on Korean BBQ to the community,” said Karim Haji, CEO/COO of Grafton Way Restaurant Group, which operates the Cupbop Houston locations. “We want everyone who walks through our doors to experience the energy and joy that Cupbop brings, whether they’re trying Korean food for the first time or coming back for a favorite bowl.”

Shea Homes coming to The Grand Prairie development in Hockley

The Grand Prairie, a master-planned community in Hockley, announced Shea Homes would be joining the development as a homebuilder in an Oct. 21 news release. 

The big picture: Shea Homes will be building single-family homes ranging from 2,438 to 4,117 square feet with a variety of personalizable options, such as fireplaces and extended patios. The first model home from Shea Homes will be available for viewing in spring 2026 according to the release.

Some more details: According to the Houston Association of Realtors, The Grand Prairie is the fourth fastest growing master-planned community in the Houston region. At build-out, the community will have roughly 6,000 homes across 1,730 acres according to the news release.

Harris County commissioners postpone decision on panhandling, roadside solicitors

New laws restricting or banning panhandling and vendors along roadways may be coming to unincorporated Harris County in light of a state bill that went into effect Sept. 1.

The overview: In May, Texas lawmakers passed House Bill 2012, which allows counties to curb roadside and parking lot soliciting. The bill permits restrictions on people asking for money or selling food or merchandise, including animals, along roadways.

The details: During Harris County Commissioner Court's Oct. 16 meeting, Precinct 3 Commissioner Tom Ramsey asked the county attorney to work with court offices to draft an ordinance, which could include the following:

  • Clear prohibitions on panhandling that affects traffic lanes, medians and other areas that pose safety risks
  • Improves traffic flow and quality of life by creating designated safety zones away from busy traffic
  • Minimizes disruption to daily commutes
  • Enhances the overall community environment in unincorporated areas
  • Fosters a more orderly public space without impeding individual rights
