Extra Space Storage now managing 3 self-storage facilities in New Caney, Porter

Extra Space Storage assumed management of two self-storage facilities in New Caney and one in Porter in January, a company spokesperson confirmed via email May 14. The facilities were previously called BestBox Storage.

What they offer: The locations originally opened between December 2023 and July 2024, as previously reported by Community Impact. The facility offers self-storage options for rent that are guarded with security features such as:

  • 24/7 video surveillance
  • Coded gate entry
  • Lock checks
  • Protection plans

The takeaway: Customers aren’t expected to be inconvenienced by the management change, the spokesperson said. Extra Space Storage has more than 4,300 properties across 42 U.S. states.

Area fire chief declines appointment to serve on Roman Forest City Council

Montgomery County Emergency Services District No.  7 Fire Chief Howard Rinewalt declined his appointment to serve as Roman Forest Position 3 council member, according to a May 20 Facebook post.

The details: Rinewalt was appointed to the position during the council’s May 18 meeting. 

Rinewalt said he decided to decline his appointment to the position after hearing feedback from other residents.

“I’ve been a resident of this community for 13 years, and when the opportunity arose, my intention was simply to help serve, learn, and contribute positively to the city I care about,” Rinewalt said in the post. “While I truly appreciate the confidence and support shown to me, I also respect that many community members were passionate about wanting a different direction.”

What’s next: Roman Forest City Administrator Scott Castleberry said council members will likely consider a new nominee to serve as Position 3 council member at the council’s June 22 meeting.

After three years of virtually operating her own business, Jody Lane, owner of Bountiful Boards Charcuterie, opened a brick and mortar in Cypress in May. The business specializes in creating charcuterie boards and grazing tables. Truluck’s marks decade serving prime seafood in The Woodlands

A decade after planting roots in The Woodlands and weathering everything from devastating floods to the upheaval of COVID-19, Houston-born seafood destination Truluck's Ocean's Best Seafood & Crab is charting its next chapter. The restaurant was recently renovated in The Woodlands, and a new location is planned to open this year in Town and Country, operating partner Chris Davis said.
