Wellness Plaza at Boerne aims to bring health care, retail to Herff Road

A new wellness-focused retail and medical development is poised for construction off Herff Road in Boerne.

The Wellness Plaza at Boerne aims to bring medical professionals and retail clients together in a 37,000-square-foot development.

The development is one of many projects planned for Herff Road near Gallant Fox and Old San Antonio Road, with a new emergency room, Starbucks and other developments announced in the area.

The overview: Eric Perardi, director of development and commercial services for Engel & Völkers and owner of Perardi Development, told Community Impact the goal of the project is to offer space for medical professionals in Boerne, while bringing in high-end retail to keep the facility operational seven days a week.

“The ground floor will be traditional retail focused on health and wellness, while the upper two floors are your traditional doctors,” Perardi said.

Boerne Epicure Gourmet Delicatessen to offer deli classics in the Hill Country

A local gourmet grocer and deli is planning to open a new brick-and-mortar restaurant in the Hill Country soon.

The full story: Boerne Epicure Gourmet Delicatessen is set to open on Sept. 8 at 111 Staffel St. in Boerne, staff told Community Impact.

It will be the sister location of Boerne Epicure Gourmet Market, an upscale grocery store and deli that sits at 210 S. Main St.

The deli and specialty sandwich shop that is currently inside the market will move to the new location, according to a Facebook post from the business.

Zooming in: The new storefront will have both indoor and outdoor seating and an expanded breakfast menu, the post said.

Aside from new breakfast items, the menu will still have traditional sub sandwiches, a selection of fresh deli meats and cheeses and more.

Staff at Epicure Gourmet Market said the owners plan to add a smoothie bar to the location where the sandwich shop was previously situated.

The Yard Gym opens North San Antonio location

The Yard Gym, an Australian-based fitness company, has opened a location in North San Antonio.

The details: 
The Yard Gym offers an elevated boutique fitness experience. Each Yard Gym is designed with a dual-zone setup, featuring a “rig” strength side and a “turf” conditioning side. This design provides customers with an eight-week structured approach to maximize results. Each workout is blended with one-on-one personal training within a group session, according to a news release.

Known as the Yard Gym Alon, the gym is located on Northwest Military Highway and provides a family-friendly environment with core flow classes and supervised childcare.
A second location at 1101 Broadway, known as the Yard Gym Broadway, offers mat pilates and a recovery space that features a sauna and cold plunge sessions.

Both gyms offer a running club and hybrid sessions on Sundays for competitive athletes seeking training to increase stamina and endurance for events, such as marathons, according to the release.

A statewide pizza franchise has expanded to Northeast San Antonio.

On Sept. 3, Crust Pizza Co. opened at 813 Cibolo Valley Drive, Ste. 170. The franchise is operated by franchisees Derek Campbell, Nathan Howe Robbins and Jay Tompkins.

Crust Pizza Co. serves Chicago-style pizza along with pastas, salads and flatbread sandwiches.

A new winery is headed to Boerne’s Hill Country Mile this winter.

Called Hill & Bach Cellars, the California-sourced winery will take the place of the Old Luckenbach House at 265 N. Main St.

The winery’s customer service representative told Community Impact that they have an updated opening timeframe of January or February 2026.

According to their website, customers will be able to choose from a variety of wines sourced from Paso Robles, California, a region known for its vineyards.

Flavors range from Cactus Bloom—a Pinot Grigio—to Hat & Cattle, a Cabernet Sauvignon.

Flood relief concert in New Braunfels raises over $3 million for the cause

A local concert featuring well-known country artists at the Whitewater Amphitheater raised millions for continued flood relief and recovery in the Texas Hill Country.

In case you missed it: Deemed the Applause for the Cause concert, the event was organized by country musician and Texas native Robert Earl Keen and sponsored by nearby Buc-ee's.

Notable guest musicians included Tyler Childers, Miranda Lambert, Ryan Bingham, Jack Ingram and more.

Keen announced on Facebook that the concert raised over $3 million in proceeds that went directly toward the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund.

Additionally, Keen held another concert in nearby Helotes at the John T. Floore Country Store over Labor Day weekend that supported continued relief efforts in the Hill Country.

“I’m so proud of this community and beyond thankful to everyone who came out, gave, and stood with us,” Keen said.

Country legend George Strait also held a flood benefit concert in the San Antonio area in Boerne, called Strait to the Heart.
