The Light Park returns to Selma for the holiday season

A holiday light show in Selma has returned for its 2025 season.

What’s happening? The Light Park, a drive-thru holiday light show, is now open to Selma, Northeast San Antonio and the surrounding area through Jan. 4.

Held at Retama Park, the show contains millions of lights, live music and festive food and drinks. The park is also pet-friendly, according to The Light Park website. The event is cashless.

The show is held in nine locations throughout Texas, including Retama Park and Nelson W. Wolff Municipal Stadium at 5757 Hwy. 90—where San Antonio's Minor League Baseball team plays.
  • Through Jan. 4, 5:30-10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday; 5:30-11 p.m., Friday and Saturday
  • $39 and up online, $60 and up at the gate
  • Retama Park Parking Lot, 1 Retama Parkway, Selma

Youz Guyz cheesesteak restaurant closes in Universal City

A Universal City restaurant serving Philadelphia cheesesteaks has closed its doors.

What you need to know: Owned by Jimmy and Kathy De Laurentis since 2007, Youz Guyz South Philly Cheesesteaks, closed its doors at 316 Pat Booker Road, on Dec. 6. The couple had been considering retirement for several years, City Manager Kim Turner told Community Impact.

Along with its cheesesteak and pizza steak sandwiches, Youz Guyz also served hoagie sandwiches, hot dogs, chicken fingers and Philly soft pretzels, according to an online menu.

See who’s on the ballot for March 3 elections in Guadalupe County

The March 3, 2026, primary election is taking shape in Guadalupe County.

What’s on the ballot: As of the Dec. 8 filing deadline for the March 3 primary, candidates are on the ballot for the following positions:

  • Guadalupe County judge
  • Precinct commissioners
  • County Court at Law judge

According to the Texas Secretary of State website, no Democratic, Independent or Green Party candidates filed for primaries.

Dates to know: The first day for voters to submit an application for a ballot by mail for the March 3 election is Jan. 1, according to the Texas Secretary of State website. The last day for voter registration is Feb. 2, with early voting beginning Feb. 17.

Frosted Jack Christmas Tavern is now offering cocktails and more in downtown Boerne

The new holiday pop-up shop and beverage spot has opened for the season, offering cocktails, mocktails and more holiday beverages right on the Hill Country Mile.

Led by the local establishment Camp Bar & Feed, the Frosted Jack Christmas Tavern is located at 421 S. Main St., next to Hamby’s and Bear Moon Bakery and Cafe.

Another dual-branded Applebee’s and IHOP recently opened in San Antonio at 9911 I-10, near Wurzbach Road.

After closing earlier this year for a renovation project, the restaurant has reopened in October, restaurant staff told Community Impact.

Originally a single IHOP, the restaurant is one of several throughout the area to close and reopen as the dual-branded concept.
