Tip Top Cleaners, a locally owned dry cleaning and laundry service, has temporarily relocated in New Braunfels after a fire.

The overview: Co-owner Ian Acosta said they temporarily relocated from 321 W. Mill St. following a fire on Aug. 4. Acosta said they are temporarily operating at Hill Country Cleaners, which is located at 1030 S. Business I-35. Customers can also use their mobile pickup and delivery service.

Acosta said they are hoping to reopen by the end of the year, although reopening is will be based on insurance claims and how quickly they can restore their equipment.

Quote of note: Acosta said the community has been supportive since the fire.

"We are doing everything we absolutely can as business owners to keep all of our customers as serviced as possible. We don't want to become another memory, another one of these businesses that close their doors," Acosta said.

What they offer: Tip Top Cleaners offers dry cleaning and wash-and-fold services for both households and commercial businesses.

Blackbird Brims, a locally owned hat studio, has moved from New Braunfels to San Marcos.

The overview: The hat shop, owned by Cage Patton, relocated from 5481 FM 1102, New Braunfels, to 232 N. LBJ Dr., Ste. 101, San Marcos on Aug. 10. Patton said they were sad to leave their cozy cabin off FM 1102 but San Marcos was the right next step for the business.

"It was too great of an opportunity to pass up," Patton said. "Between the school and the other unique local businesses, we felt it was a perfect fit to call Blackbird's new nest."

What they offer: Blackbird Brims opened in June 2025 and offers hat shaping and branding. The full-service custom hat studio also offers suede, hemp and jute hat cords and hat ribbons.

Duett’s Texas Club, a popular dining and live music spot in Martindale, officially closed its doors on March 28. After almost six months, the business will reopen under new ownership.

What happened: Mike and Vanessa Lain Torres, the team behind the catering brand Gold Epicure, acquired Duett's Texas Club. The duo has worked in the hospitality and event industry for over a decade.

Mike Torres was the original chef at Duett's Texas Club and will continue the legacy and vision of founders Ryan and Katie Grametbaur, according to the business’s website.

The details: The new business model under the ownership of the Torres family will offer weekly Wednesday public meal service and private events, music, weddings and Gold Epicure's catering operations.

Antonio Bond, floral artist at Transplants Floral, will lead the business’s creative redesign. Guests can additionally expect the launch of Duett's Texas Club’s first culinary products for purchase, including steak sauce, dry rub and merchandise.

• 420 Main St., Martindale

Texas Mutual health affiliate Texicare, is partnering with CHRISTUS Health to expand its coverage in San Antonio.

The overview: Texicare added 96 providers and 29 clinics from CHRISTUS Health to its network in Bexar and Comal counties on Aug. 15, according to a news release. The partnership with CHRISTUS Health will help Texicare customers access more options for care that include:

• primary care

• emergency services

• cardiology

• orthopedics

• neuroscience

• pediatrics

• women’s health

What to expect: Texicare members have three plan options to access CHRISTUS providers, which includes TotalCare, SimpliticityCare and SavingsCare.

TotalCare plans include four $0 visits to multiple provider types, including primary care, specialists, urgent care, physical therapy and mental health. SimplicityCare plans feature straightforward copays and no deductibles. SavingsCare plans combine the opportunity for lower monthly premiums with a Health Savings Account option for managing health care costs tax-free, according to the release.
