Dragon's Lair Comics and Fantasy officials announced its plan to rebrand to Odin's Lair Comics and Fantasy & The Tabletop Tavern, on April 25.

The details: Located on 249, per officials Odin's Lair reflects the shops main identity. As a store the shop houses comics, games, table-top roleplaying. The business also boasts an in-house restaurant, called the Tabletop Tavern offering draft beer, wine, coffee, burgers, pizza and chicken strips, among other menu items.

Incase you missed it: Founded by husband and wife Robert and Christine Prohl, as an expansion of Dragon's Lair Comics, the shop specializes in comics, gaming and collectibles. 

Several businesses offering various desserts and beverages are now serving or have announced plans to open in the Spring area. This list is not comprehensive.

Acai Brasil now serving acaí, pitaya bowls in Spring: The Brazilian business focuses on serving smoothies and bowls made with authentic acai, per the shop's website. The menu also features items made with pitaya, commonly known as dragon fruit.

Luliet Creamery and Bake Shop announces Vintage Park opening: The Vintage Park location will feature Luliet's full menu, including scratch-made cookies and cupcakes, two dozen flavors of housemade ice cream and French macarons.

Michoacana Tex-Star now serving ice cream in Spring: Michoacana Tex-Star offers over 12 flavors of paletas, a popsicle-style treat made with frozen fruit, as well as smoothies with a variety of topping options, including boba and fruit cocktails.

Families have until 11:59 p.m. March 17 to apply for the first year of Texas’ education savings account program, according to the state comptroller’s office.

The big picture: Under the $1 billion program, participating students will receive state funds for private education or homeschooling during the 2026-27 school year. It is unlikely that all applicants will be accepted, as application data shows more students have applied than the program can fund.

The program offers $2,000 to homeschooled students; $10,474 for private school tuition and related expenses; and up to $30,000 for students with disabilities. With demand set to exceed available funding, applications will be prioritized based on need and household income.

How we got here: State lawmakers created the Texas Education Freedom Accounts program in 2025, with proponents saying it will expand options for families who don't want to send their children to public schools. Critics of the program have said it will unfairly benefit students already in private schools and divert funding from public schools.
