Wimberley home care agency joins business serving Central Texas families

A private-pay home care agency located in Wimberley has joined Blue Water Homecare, Inc., an agency serving families across Central Texas and the Hill Country.

The gist: Angels for Elders has served the city and Hays County for nearly 30 years. The business has joined Blue Water Homecare and clients will begin receiving care under that name on Oct. 25, according to a news release.

Families receiving care from Angels for Elders will see limited changes to their day-to-day service. Angels for Elders founders Ann Guilford and Kima Coltharp will help clients and caregivers transition.

Caregivers will join Blue Water Homecare with the clients they currently serve. The agency’s local phone number will remain unchanged and Blue Water Homecare Executive Director Denise Salinas will oversee care, according to the release.

Also of note: Blue Water Homecare is a locally owned, nurse-led home care agency based in Leander. The business serves families throughout Central Texas and the Hill Country.

Q&A: Weather forecaster James Greenhaw explains effects of El Niño in Central Texas

Central Texas could experience increased moisture and slightly cooler temperatures as El Niño lingers through the fall and winter, Pflugerville weather forecaster James Greenhaw said in an interview with Community Impact.

According to a report from NOAA, there is an 83% chance that this will be the strongest El Niño on record. Greenhaw, who's known as the "Pflugerville Weather Guy" for sharing updates on social media, explained the effects this natural climate pattern could have on the area.

What is El Niño?

The description is hard to exactly say, but it's basically the warming of the Pacific waters west of Central America.

How will El Niño affect Central Texas weather?

In a typical El Niño year, what that does is it brings in more moisture towards the United States, especially toward Texas.

What’s the timeline of El Niño?

December through I would say March [or] April months are going to be our highest chances to see an increased rainfall. Not necessarily flooding, but it can happen.
