College Station ISD approved its tax rate for the 2026-27 school year after multiple delays on Sept. 15.
What you need to know: As previously reported by Community Impact, CSISD approved its 2026-27 budget with an $8.3 million shortfall, citing “declining enrollment, rising costs and major facility needs.” The board has been contemplating the tax rate amid the shortfall and has delayed passing the tax rate, but is legally required to do so by Sept. 30.
According to the board’s presentation, CFO Heather Wilson specified the “tax rate will effectively be raised by 1.33% and will raise taxes for maintenance and operations on a $100,000 home by approximately $12.75” per year.
What the board is saying: Board President Kim Ege said the tax rate itself is not being raised; however, property values in the city have gone up, which can cause some people to pay more depending on their property.
The impact: The board unanimously passed the tax rate, which is set to take effect on Oct. 1.
