Early voting begins Jan. 21 for state Senate District 9 runoff election

A runoff election for Senate District 9 will be held Jan. 31 between Taylor Rehmet and Leigh Wambsganss.

Early voting for the election runs from Jan. 21-27.

What you need to know: For the Jan. 31 election, there are several dates to know, including:

  • Jan. 21: early voting begins
  • Jan. 27: early voting ends
  • Jan. 31: election day

The details: There are 22 early voting locations in Tarrant County, including the Grapevine Public Library, Keller Town Hall, Southlake Town Hall and Northpark YMCA in Fort Worth.

During the first week, voting will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Jan. 21-23. Polling spots will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Jan. 24 and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 25.

The final two days of early voting, Jan. 26-27, the polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Polling locations will be in 25 different cities or towns throughout the county Jan. 31, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Puffy Cotton Candy bringing 1st Texas location to Grapevine

Puffy Cotton Candy will be opening its first Texas location in Grapevine.

The details: Franchise owners Harold and Courtney Polk will bring a location to Grapevine Mills.

According to the website, Puffy Cotton Candy is an innovative company centered around the experience of seeing cotton candy spun fresh in a store.

Standing nearly 2 feet tall, employees design cotton candy characters such as a rainbow unicorn, puppy dog, cows, fox, hippo, duck, pigs and a new collaboration with Peanuts, according to the website. Cakes and traditional cotton candy clouds are also available.

Zooming in: It will move into a space that was formerly occupied by Pepper Tree, a men's clothing store. That store closed in October 2024, according to previous reporting.

Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop to open first Texas location in Flower Mound

The candy store sells candy items in bulk, international snacks, chocolates, toys, more than 350 glass-bottled sodas and games.

The Flower Mound location will open Jan. 22 and will serve hand-scooped ice cream, milkshakes and floats, as well. Grandpa Joe’s Candy Shop also offers its $5 candy buffet, which allows customers to fit as much candy into a box for a fixed price.

TeaCupFuls to offer boba tea in Flower Mound

A new boba tea shop, TeaCupFuls, plans to move into a space along Long Prairie Road, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation.

The gist: Construction on the property will occur to finish out a suite for TeaCupFuls. The cost of construction is estimated at $250,000 and is expected to start June 1 before wrapping up June 30, per the filing.

What's on the menu: The business sells a selection of teas, coffee and specialty drinks, according to its website. Stores also sell a variety of different candy.
