Plans to build a 98-acre warehouse development along SH 121 are moving forward in Frisco.

Frisco City Council voted 4-2 in favor of the project at a March 3 meeting, with council members Burt Thakur and Jared Elad in opposition.

At a glance: The development will provide over 1 million square feet of office and industrial space across 11 buildings, according to a report from city staff.

What they’re saying: An online petition opposing the proposed warehouse received over 2,000 signatures, and Hubbard said city staff have received 338 project input forms regarding the project.

Quote of note: “Fear of the unknown is a real thing,” Mayor Jeff Cheney said. “The vast majority of the time, once [projects] have been built and the people that live near them can see them, they realize Frisco city staff know what they’re doing.”

Spice Rack recently opened a restaurant in Frisco, a company representative said.

What they serve: The menu features a variety of south Indian cuisine options including idly dishes. Idly is a south Indian rice and lentil cake.

Stockyard Pantry is now open and offering beef tallow-based products at Tupps Brewery in East McKinney, according to a social media post.

The details: The business, owned by married couple Myk Walton and Peyton Shugart, offers a variety of chef-crafted goods that incorporate beef tallow. Products available include skin care products like whipped tallow balms and tallow lip balms as well as pantry staples such as hot sauces, fresh pasta and cookies.

“It's not a cookie that you're gonna find anywhere else,” Walton said, noting that the recipe took 6 years to develop.

Diving in deeper: Walton is a professional chef who worked with chef Gordon Ramsay for 12 years, he said. Walton first began working with beef tallow when he purchased a whole cow for the first time about 4 years ago, and was looking for ways to use the vitamin-rich beef tallow.

Several races were held during the March 3 election, including positions at the county, state and federal level. Meanwhile, developments across the metroplex are taking shape.
