Community garage sale, World Cup watch party: Check out 8 events in Allen this June

Looking for something fun to do in Allen this month? Check out these eight events. This list is not comprehensive, and events are subject to change.

1. Community Garage Sale: The Allen Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a community garage sale at the Joe Farmer Recreation Center.

  • June 6, 7 a.m.-noon
  • Free (admission)
  • 1201 E. Bethany Drive, Allen

2. World Cup watch party: The Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center is hosting a watch party for the Mexico vs. South Africa game. Attendees should bring a lawn chair. Concessions, vendors and lawn games will also be available.
  • June 11, 1-5 p.m.

  • 1680 W. Exchange Parkway, Allen

3. Allen USA: Presented by Credit Union of Texas, this annual summer event includes live music, food trucks and a fireworks display. Tickets will be available June 1.

EagleNXT holds ribbon cutting ceremony for new Allen headquarters

Drone manufacturing company EagleNXT's new Allen headquarters is now open.

A closer look: EagleNXT officials celebrated the grand opening of the headquarters facility with a ribbon cutting ceremony May 27. The facility will manufacture MicaSense multispectral sensors and EagleNXT’s first-ever U.S. production line for the company’s eBee Vision drone.

“We're prepped for major growth, and we appreciate everybody's support for the new facility here in Allen,” EagleNXT CEO Bill Irby said.

Universal Kids Resort sets July 1 opening date

Universal Kids Resort will open in Frisco on July 1.

What you need to know: The theme park is a first-of-its-kind that is designed for kids. Guests can start planning their vacations with tickets sales and hotel bookings now available, according to a May 28 news release.

Tickets, packages and the first annual pass option for Universal Kids Resort are officially on sale.

Looking back: The theme park was announced in January 2023 and it was always geared toward young children and families. The project later broke ground that year and the hotel joined the Frisco tourism group in early 2026.

Quote of note: "When Universal opens, it's going to be something that's really unique about growing up in Frisco," Mayor Jeff Cheney said. "It's going to be kind of a big part of the Frisco DNA going forward."

Spicy Aroma offers Indian flavors, breakfast buffet in Denton

Indian restaurant Spicy Aroma opened at the Denton Plaza shopping center in early March.

The restaurant offers a variety of Indian dishes, including chicken korma, tikka masala and biryani fried rice, according to the menu. Spicy Aroma also has an unlimited breakfast buffet on Saturdays and Sundays.

Yummy Crab plans new location in Frisco

Yummy Crab plans to open a location in Frisco by the end of the year, a company representative confirmed.

The chain offers crab legs, shrimp and crawfish by the pound alongside Southern seafood dishes like hush puppies and fried catfish.
