Texas Disposal Systems to close Eco Depot, transfer station in Bee Cave

The final day of operation for the Texas Disposal Systems Bee Cave Transfer Station and Eco Depot is Feb. 14, according to a news release. 

The details: Located at 4001 RM 620, Bee Cave,TDS provides waste management services to the city through a collaboration with Travis County, while Eco Depot serves as an outlet for products from Garden-Ville. Travis County opened Eco Depot in 1975 and operated the transfer station until contracting with TDS in 1997, according to the news release. 

Despite the closure, Travis County is still committed to providing services to Bee Cave through its TDS partnership, according to the news release.

The next closest stations are located in Creedmoor and Georgetown, about 40 minutes southeast and 53 minutes northeast of the current location, respectively.

What’s next?: A promotion will be held at Eco Depot through the closing of the facility, according to the news release. The future of the site located just west of the Hill Country Galleria was not decided as of press time.

Westlake-based wellness company Humann promotes cardiovascular health

Humann cofounder and CEO Joel Kocher said the Austin-born and based wellness company believes cardiovascular health is "not a niche or trendy fad," and has developed a range of cardiovascular health products since 2010. 

The background: Humann was founded from a University of Texas Health Science Center research program, Kocher said. The program emerged from the work of Dr. Ferid Murad, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in medicine in 1998 for discoveries around nitric oxide and and cardiovascular function which Humann utilizes in its products. 

What they offer: Based in Westlake, Humann offers a range of products targeting cardiovascular health, blood pressure, cholesterol, metabolism, joint health and cognitive health. Products include:

  • Beet-based nitric oxide supplements to support blood flow and cardiovascular health
  • Powder drink mixes to support energy, endurance and recovery
  • Capsule supplements to support heart health and blood pressure
  • Chewable supplements to improve circulation and cardiovascular support

According to Kocher, the products are developed with clinical research, including peer-reviewed and university-led studies, and guided by a science advisory board and an in-house scientist.
