Casa Julia Tex-Mex to hold grand opening in New Caney

Casa Julia Tex-Mex officials confirmed the restaurant has plans to hold a grand opening for a New Caney location on March 31. Community Impact previously reported the eatery planned to open in early March.

What they offer: With an original location in Mont Belvieu, Casa Julia Tex-Mex offers dine-in, to-go and catering services.

On the menu: Specializing in Tex-Mex, menu items offered include quesadillas, loaded nachos, fajitas, enchiladas and tacos. The eatery also features a full bar and offers a range of drinks from margaritas to beer and wine.

Creativity Shell Day Camps
The nonprofit will host day camps centered around STEAM activities; sewing, quilting, crocheting and knitting; cooking and baking; drawing, painting, pottery and art; photography and design; theater; and magic tricks.

Coach B’s Summer Science Caravan
Owner Dale Bransom will host two camp sessions each week throughout the summer with field trips and activities centered around science, technology, engineering and mathematics. Locations include Atascocita, Dallas, Humble, Katy, Kingwood and New Caney.

Cancer Clinician and Translational Scientist Dr. Daniela Matei will become the next director of the Houston Methodist Dr. Mary and Ron Neal Cancer Center following a national search, Houston Methodist officials announced in a Feb. 27 news release.

The details: Currently chief of the Division of Reproductive Science in Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, Matei is an expert in ovarian cancer treatment and research, per the release.

What they’re saying: Chang said Matei’s vision will “enhance the momentum of our research enterprise and support our shared goal of turning scientific innovation into real-world impact for patients.”

What’s next? Matei will begin her role as director in April, per the release.
