DART CEO Nadine Lee announces resignation

Dallas Area Rapid Transit President and Chief Executive Officer Nadine Lee is stepping down.

What you need to know: Lee informed the transit authority’s board of directors that she will not seek a contract extension, according to a DART news release.

Lee has served as president and CEO of DART since July 2021, and she received a contract extension in 2024 that is set to expire on Sept. 30, 2026, according to up DART board of directors meeting documents.

DART’s board was set to discuss Lee’s employment agreement at its March 24 meeting.

BearBit Claw Master is set to open a new location in Plano.

The specifics: The arcade is coming soon to the Park Pavillion Center shopping center at the corner of Park Boulevard and Coit Road according to the business’ website and signage on the storefront.

BearBit has existing locations in Houston and Port Lavaca and offers a variety of claw machines with sweet treats, plush toys and collectables available as prizes, according to the website.

North Texas, Houston earn $116M in grants for FIFA World Cup safety measures

North Texas and Houston are set to receive a combined $116 million in grants to support public safety efforts ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, according to a March 25 news release from Gov. Greg Abbott’s office.

What it means: The funding will be distributed to the city of Houston and the North Central Texas Council of Governments to support additional safety personnel, equipment and other public safety resources tied to World Cup events, according to the release. The grants are part of the FIFA World Cup Grant Program, which will distribute $625 million to host cities nationwide.

Some context: The 2026 FIFA World Cup will run from June 11 to July 19, with multiple matches scheduled at AT&T Stadium in Arlington and NRG Stadium in Houston. The Dallas-Fort Worth area will host nine matches, which is more than any other U.S. host city, while Houston will host seven, including two knockout-stage games, according to FIFA’s website.
