Here are 11 places to visit for individuals looking to participate in Dry January or simply try a new mocktail.

Good God, Nadine’s: Starting in January, the bar will debut four zero-proof mocktails for $12. The drinks were designed to be anti-inflammatory and refreshing, including flavors such as cacao nut milk, elderberry, lavender and cardamom.

: Located in Rice Village, the Italian restaurant offers several zero-proof beverages, including a grapefruit spritz with pineapple rosemary puree, fresh-squeezed grapefruit juice and sparkling water.

The Japanese restaurant in River Oaks is featuring two zero-proof beverages: Matcha Colada and Boketto. Priced at $14, the Matcha Colada includes matcha, coconut, pineapple and lime for a tropical-meets-tea taste. Meanwhile, the Boketto offers Seedlip Garden, jasmine green tea, cucumber and yuzu, a tart East Asian citrus fruit.

Specialty ice cream free of artificial ingredients debuts in Bellaire

Long-time chef Rishi Singh named the ice cream company after his son, Max. 

The overview: After serving as an executive chef for the past 20 years, Rishi Singh has started a new ice cream business in Bellaire, according to a Nov. 22 social media post. 

Max’s Ice Cream sells pints for $10 and offers unique flavors such as English Sticky Toffee Pudding and Pistachio Cardamom. Top sellers include the Burnt Cookies and Cream, Madagascar Vanilla Bean and Bailey’s Irish Coffee & Brownies.

One more thing: According to the company’s social media, pickup is in Bellaire near Evelyn’s Park, and bulk order discounts and referral bonuses are available.

Q&A: Lone Star College’s chief mental health officer, Shantha Stokes, discusses her role, new initiatives

United Airlines now offering route to Tepic, Mexico, out of George Bush Intercontinental Airport

United Airlines launched its first nonstop service route from George Bush Intercontinental Airport to Tepic, Riviera Nayarit, Mexico, on Dec. 20, according to a Dec. 22 news release.

The details: With the addition of the route, IAH will now serve as the sole U.S. destination out of the Tepic International Airport, according to the news release. The new route operates once a week on Saturdays, with seasonal service available from mid-December to mid-August. It provides direct access to the Riviera Nayarit region, according to the news release. With the addition of Tepic, United now serves 24 destinations in Mexico and 52 destinations across Latin America from IAH, the news release states.

Also of note: At William P. Hobby Airport, travelers moving through the Central Concourse now have a new sit-down dining option with the December opening of the Yard House, according to a Dec. 22 news release.
