A previously proposed hotel development in the northern gateway of Colleyville, could soon become a golf facility.

Council members unanimously approved transferring a purchase-sale agreement from NuCiti Capital Partners to Lone Star Blackjack Oak LLC during the Sept. 1 meeting. NuCiti Capital Partners purchased the 22 acres from the city for $9.85 million in August 2025 with an option to acquire the remaining 15 city-owned acres.

The details: Under the amended agreement, NuCiti Capital Partners would transfer ownership of the 22 acres, and the 15-acre option to Lone Star Blackjack Oak, which is sponsored by professional golfer Bryson DeChambeau.

Mayor Bobby Lindamood said there is no longer a plan to add a hotel to the property. 

Based on city documents, the new development from Lone Star Blackjack Oak would include a par 3 golf course, a driving range and other commercial uses, such as retail and restaurant spaces.

Going forward: Assistant City Manager Mark Wood said Lone Star Blackjack Oak plans to make a development submittal to the city by mid-October.

The Timberland store is now open inside Grapevine Mills mall.

What they offer: While the brand is known mostly for its waterproof outdoor boots, the store also sells designs catered more for casual or business settings.

Outside of boots, Timberland offers casual and work apparel and accessories, including shirts, pants, jackets and backpacks.

Tarrant County commissioners voted to reduce the number of Election Day and early voting polling locations.

Commissioners approved 47 early voting locations and 224 Election Day voting locations by a 3-2 vote during the Sept. 1 meeting. County Judge Tim O’Hare, Precinct 3 Commissioner Matt Krause and Precinct 4 Commissioner Manny Ramirez voted to approve the locations, while Precinct 2 Commissioner Alisa Simmons and Precinct 1 Commissioner Roderick Miles Jr. voted against the motion.

The details: Since tabling consideration at the Aug. 4 meeting, county elections staff added more locations going from 176 to 224. However, the 224 Election Day polling locations is a 29.11% decrease from the 316 Election Day polling locations used for the 2022 midterm election.

County elections staff created a preliminary list of 269 polling locations, Tarrant County Elections Administrator Clinton Ludwig added, but reduced the final list to 224 to maintain a balanced number of polling locations by precinct and avoid having sites too close to one another.

Democrat Nathan Johnson, a state senator from Dallas; Republican Mayes Middleton, a state senator from Galveston; and Libertarian Tom Oxford, an attorney from Nederland, are running to replace him this November. Community Impact asked the candidates for their perspectives on Texas' open records laws, state litigation and other topics.

How we got here: Johnson and Middleton each won their primary runoff elections in May, Community Impact reported, while Oxford was selected as the Texas Libertarian Party's candidate during an April nominating convention.

Looking ahead: Early voting in eight statewide races and dozens of local elections runs from Oct. 19-30. Election Day is Nov. 3.
