Argyle ISD approves instructional calendar for 2026-27 school year

Argyle ISD’s board of trustees unanimously approved its instructional calendar for the 2026-27 school year at a regular board meeting Feb. 16.

What you need to know: The 2026-27 calendar has the following notable dates.

  • Aug. 11: start of fall semester
  • Oct. 12-16: student holiday
  • Nov. 23-27: Thanksgiving break
  • Dec. 21-Jan. 1: winter break
  • Mar. 8-12: spring break
  • May 20: end of spring semester

inLIFE Wellness offers reformer Pilates in Flower Mound

inLIFE Wellness, a reformer Pilates studio, has opened its doors in Flower Mound.

The overview: Classes offered at the studio blend a traditional Pilates workout with strength, cardio and barre exercises. The studio offers membership packages that include a number of monthly classes, according to its website.

What else: There are several other inLIFE Wellness locations in North Texas, including in Frisco and McKinney.

All Star Elite to replace Go! Calendars, Toys & Games in Grapevine Mills

A new retail clothing store, specializing in sports-themed apparel, is coming to Grapevine Mills.

Trudy Creswell, director of marketing and business development for the mall, said that All Star Elite will move into a spot previously occupied by Go! Games and Calendars, which closed in late January.

Zooming in: No opening date is available yet for All Star Elite. According to the Simon Property Group website, the store has 10 other locations from Hawaii to New Jersey. The closest location is the Allen Premium Outlets.

What they offer: According to the All Star Elite website, the store sells jerseys and jackets of players such as Kobe Bryant, Shohei Ohtani, LeBron James, Michael Jordan, Negro League Baseball teams and high school jerseys of Texas high school football stars Ashton Jeanty, Shedeur Sanders and Cam Ward.

Palestinian restaurant Ayat now open in Richardson

Ayat in Richardson serves both traditional Palestinian dishes and new takes on Middle Eastern cuisine. Popular dishes include maklouba, a six-layer “upside down” dish of chicken, rice and vegetables, as well as mansaf, a stew of bone-in lamb chunks and yogurt sauce served over sajj bread and rice.

This is the New York-based restaurant’s first Texas location.

Locally owned 88 BaoBao offers authentic Chinese, Chinese-American cuisine in Frisco, McKinney

Frisco resident Johnny Wong said that after seeing the success his cousin Kevin Chen’s restaurant, 88 BaoBao, was having in California, he and his wife, JoJo He, felt it was the perfect time to bring the concept to their hometown.

Wong said Chen’s father, who has decades of restaurant industry experience, created the recipes used at 88 Baobao. Based on customer requests, the Frisco and McKinney menus feature more Chinese American dishes including orange chicken and broccoli beef, which have become fan favorites.
