FitFam Community opens in Hutto

FitFam Community is open in Hutto, providing HIIT and personal training.

The details: Jason Houck opened FitFam on April 7. FitFam's HIIT classes are designed to maximize results in minimum time. Each one-hour session alternates between intense bursts of exercise and brief recovery periods, keeping heart rate elevated and metabolism fired up for hours after class. Each class is scaled to the participants fitness level.

Classes run Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 5:00 a.m. and 6:30 a.m.; Monday and Wednesday at 5:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.; Tuesday and Thursday at 4:45 p.m. and 6:15 p.m.; and Saturday at 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m.

Lone Star Circle of Care celebrates half a decade of mobile healthcare in Central Texas

Lone Star Circle of Care has now brought mobile mammography services to communities across Central Texas for five years. The Big Pink Bus launched in July 2021, increasing access to breast cancer screening in the region, according to a news release.

“For five years, the Big Pink Bus has brought life-saving mammography services directly to women across Central Texas,” said Jon Calvin, CEO of Lone Star Circle of Care. “This milestone reflects our ongoing commitment to early detection and expanding access to care.”

What they offer: Through the Big Pink Bus, Lone Star Circle of Care offers mammography services and breast cancer screenings. The resource’s team also supports clients after their initial visit through follow-up support and getting connected to additional resources.

The local impact: Since its initial launch, the bus has given over 10,000 mammograms, and over 80 of those patients were diagnosed with breast cancer through their initial screenings. In the last five years, the bus has traveled over 53,000 miles through Central Texas counties, including Bastrop, Hays, Travis and Williamson.

Honest Mary’s to launch new location in downtown Austin July 14

A new Honest Mary’s location opens in the Seaholm District on July 14, according to its social media. Known for its simple ingredients and dishes made without additives, the restaurant serves signature and customizable bowls, sipping broths and snacks. For a build-your-own bowl, patrons can choose from a protein base, two market sides, two toppings and a sauce. Honest Mary’s also uses hormone-free meat and wild-caught tuna, as opposed to farmed tuna.

Gati Cafe localized worldwide flavors with Texas ingredients

Gati Cafe started out as a dessert spot in East Austin and soon evolved into a cafe serving up vegan ice cream, baked goods, morning meals and mid-day eats with flavors from across the map.

Gati Cafe is rooted in chef and owner Jam Sanitchat’s experience as a traveler and seasoned restaurateur. She moved to the U.S. in 2001 and shortly began teaching cooking classes, selling her food at farmers markets and eventually launching a brick-and-mortar.
