7 Brew is coming soon to the Harpers Preserve in The Woodlands area, according to an Oct. 13 news release.

More details: The drive-thru coffee stand offers a variety of drinks, including lattes, cold brews, energy drinks, teas and lemonades, according to the news release. During the ribbon-cutting ceremony, 7 Brew will present a $10,000 check to the Texas Children’s Hospital Woodlands campus.

Wayne Mack, Montgomery County Precinct 1 justice of the peace, will not seek reelection in 2026

Wayne Mack, Montgomery County Precinct 1 justice of the peace, announced Oct. 9 that he will not seek reelection on the ballot next November.

What they're saying: “I can’t help but reflect on the past and look toward the future. Some of you may be wondering what the next chapter holds for me,” Mack said in an Oct. 9 news release.

Career history: Mack has served as justice of the peace for Precinct 1 since 2014, when Montgomery County Commissioners Court appointed him to serve the remainder of former justice of the peace Lanny Moriarty’s term, after Moriarty resigned from the position. Mack was sworn in May 1, 2014, and won the November election for a four-year term, according to his campaign website.

Looking ahead: Mack’s seat will be up for election next year, according to Montgomery County officials.

Texas Ramp Project celebrating 40 years of building wheelchair ramps

Texas Ramp Project, which builds free wheelchair ramps for those in need across the state, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, according to a Sept. 15 news release. Over its 40 years, the nonprofit has built ramps for over 30,000 recipients with the help of over 3,500 volunteers.

Some context: The organization began in 1985 as the Dallas Ramp Project before being incorporated as the Texas Ramp Project in 2006, according to the news release. Texas Ramp Project provides the ramps to recipients at no cost, according to the news release. Most ramps cost between $800-$900 to build.

What else: In 2024, Texas Ramp Project built 2,727 ramps in 145 counties, according to its Sept. 1 fact sheet. To get a ramp, recipients must be referred by a health care provider or qualified organization via the nonprofit’s website.
