Several events are scheduled in the Tomball and Magnolia area from Oct. 30-Nov. 1:

• Chick-fil-A: COW-O-WEEN takes place Oct. 31 from noon-2 p.m. at 6543 FM 1488 in Magnolia. Attendees in costume or with decorated cars can win prizes, and candy and snacks will be handed out.

• Halloween Market, hosted by Tomball Art & Makers & Vintage Market, runs Oct. 31 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at 405 Commerce St. in Tomball. Activities include ghost hunts, free painting for kids and prize drawings.

• 2026 Fall Fest, hosted by the Southwest Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce, is Oct. 31 from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Magnolia Event Center. It features trick-or-treating, costume contests and pumpkin patch photos. The Society of Samaritans will accept food drive donations.

• Crazy Train Bar: Southbound Static features a live music concert on Nov. 1 from 2-5 p.m. at 38925 FM 1774 in Magnolia.

All four events offer free admission.

Sporting-goods retailer Academy Sports and Outdoors will open its Magnolia location on Nov. 14, according to the company’s website.

The details: The store is 55,000 square feet and cost $8 million to build, according to a filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation. It’s located in a developing retails area off of FM 1488.

The Montgomery County Food Bank hosted its inaugural Flourish & Nourish Ladies Luncheon on Oct. 22 at The Blue Magnolia in Magnolia.

Presented by Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital, the event brought together women from across Montgomery County to raise funds for hundreds of thousands of meals for people facing hunger this holiday season. The afternoon featured a fireside chat with chef, author and philanthropist Cat Cora. Brynn Huntsman provided a $25,000 matching gift for the event.

Quote of note: "Flourish & Nourish filled a room with women who care deeply about this community, and Cat Cora reminded all of us how a meal shared around the family table can shape a life," said Scott Burns, president and CEO of Montgomery County Food Bank.

The food bank's Holiday Helpings Food & Funds Drive will kick off Nov. 1 and run through the end of the year.
