8 Cypress area restaurants to participate in Houston Restaurant Weeks

From Aug. 1-Sept. 7, Houston foodies are invited to dine out and support local restaurants participating in Houston Restaurant Weeks in an effort to raise funds for the Houston Food Bank. Participating restaurants were announced July 15, and several restaurants in the Cypress area are participating.

In case you missed it: Participating restaurants will have specially priced menus, and a portion of proceeds from these meals will go toward the Houston Food Bank, per previous Community Impact reporting.

Participating restaurants will include:

  • Dario’s Steakhouse & Seafood, 14315 Cypress Rose Hill Road, Houston
  • Gauchos Do Sul Brazilian Steakhouse, 126 Vintage Park Blvd., Houston
  • Marvino’s Italian Steakhouse, 24002 Hwy. 290, Houston
  • Saltgrass Steak House Cypress, 23952 Hwy. 290, Houston
  • Sotos Cantina, 10609 Grant Road, Houston

Primark opens seventh Texas location at the Willowbrook Mall

Per a Primark release, the international retailer opened its seventh location in Texas at the Willowbrook Mall on July 16.

The details: The new Willowbrook location features a 30,000-square-foot space and offers Houston area shoppers its signature combination of quality fashion at affordable prices, said the release. 

Quote of note: “We continue to see the demand for Primark’s value, quality and style among Texas shoppers, and the Houston metro is no exception,” Primark US President Kevin Tulip said. "Following Primark’s success at Katy Mills, we’ve learned what makes the Houston shopper tick and we’re ready to open our doors and provide that unique offering to more area shoppers than ever before.”

Half Baked Goodness now serving cookies, dirty sodas in Cypress

Cookie shop franchise Half Baked Goodness held a grand opening celebration for a new location in Cypress on July 11, per a social media announcement.

According to the menu, Half Baked Goodness serves weekly specialty flavored cookies alongside regular flavors, including chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin and more. Its cookies are available in gluten-free, keto and paleo diet-friendly options. Per the social media announcement, the new location will serve dirty sodas alongside bakery items.

Jamaican patties restaurant to open in Montrose

A Jamaican-based chain restaurant, Juici Patties, will open its first Houston location at 2055 Westheimer Road, Ste. 100. The restaurant began in 1978 in May Pen, Clarendon, Jamaica, when 16-year-old Jukie Chin began making patties in his mother’s kitchen and selling them at a shop located in front of their family’s home. By 1980, the family officially opened its first storefront, calling it Juici Patties.
