Northwest ISD, Keller ISD close schools and facilities Wednesday

Update: Jan. 27, 2:44 p.m.
Keller ISD and Northwest ISD schools and facilities will be closed through Jan. 28 as residential and rural roads continue to remain hazardous, according to social media posts from both districts.

According to the posts from KISD and NISD, road conditions are expected to improve Wednesday evening with the hope that classes will resume Thursday, Jan. 29.

One more thing: Community members are encouraged to check for updates from both districts through ParentSquare, a parent engagement platform.

Roads to see major improvement Tuesday, freezing fog expected mid-week in North Texas

The Dallas-Fort Worth area can expect roads to stay icy until Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. 

The overview: While roads may have melted throughout the day Monday with sunny skies, the DFW metroplex won't see "long-lasting improvement" until Tuesday when highs are expected to be in the upper 30s and 40s, NWS meteorologist Brennen Darrah said. Some ice could linger though on backroads, which may not see improvement until Wednesday into Thursday, he said.

UPDATED: Winter Storm Fern continues to hamper flights at Dallas Love Field, DFW Airport

Dallas Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field continue to see cancellations due to Winter Storm Fern.

Zooming in: According to Flightaware.com, more than 1,000 flights to or from the Dallas metro area were also canceled Jan. 25.

As of 3:35 p.m. Jan. 25, there have been 537 flights into DFW Airport and 518 flights out of DFW Airport canceled. In terms of delays, 180 flights are arriving at DFW Airport and 184 flights are trying to depart. According to the website, the average departure delay is 43 minutes.

Also of note: Dallas Love Field has had 133 flights canceled from there and 127 flights into Love Field canceled Jan. 25.

Delay-wise, there are a combined 47 delays for Love Field.

Stay tuned: There are already more than 200 cancellations for Jan. 26.
